The Gap We Couldn't Ignore
For decades, our team has operated at the front lines of East and West African development, running both traditional nonprofits and high-growth social businesses.
We’ve seen the same cycle repeat: nonprofits providing training that leads to no income, and social enterprises struggling to find producers who can meet global quality standards.
Opportunities Across Africa (OAA) was created to close that gap. We didn't start with a theory; we started with a solution to a problem we lived with every day.
Our Origin Story
We saw a missing link.
In our years of experience, we witnessed the frustration of the 'Last Mile.' We saw artisans with incredible talent but no business literacy, and farmers with fertile land but poor seeds and no market connection.
On the other side, we saw global buyers eager for African products but unable to find a reliable, professionalized supply chain.
Traditional 'hand-outs' weren't the answer, and traditional 'business' was too risk-averse to go where the need was greatest. We founded OAA as a 501(c)(3) to be the catalyst, the technical engine that does the hard, expensive work of preparing rural producers to stand on the global stage.
